Well Hello There

Welcome to my first blog post and my brand new website!

Hi, My name is Clare I am an artist in the UK and I've just made a huge decision, I've started a website, blog and eventually a shop, here in the blog I intend to write at least once per month, with topics that cover all sorts from art to lifestyle and updates or announcements.

So a little about me, I am in my mid 30's at the time of writing this post, I have never known what I want to be when I grew up, I have worked in many different industries and have managed to accumulate 15 years of customer service experience, i did not mean to do that! At heart I am an artist, I have been an artist since I was small, I started out watching Disney films and colouring in, I was never that keen on messy play or loud play for that matter, I still colour in from time to time (the supplies have become more grown up) but I find it meditative and easy and I still don't always colour inside the lines!

My art practice has evolved over the years, I've gone from painting acrylic on canvas and tried my hand at realism, to painting with watercolours and eventually I have settled on abstract mixed media, I have always been interested in abstract art it captivates me in ways I simply cant explain, I love busy looking pieces with bold colour ways and I really enjoy using bright and bold colour in my art and it changes all the time, I enjoy nature and am influenced quite strongly by the natural forces within our world, the changing of the seasons is my favourite, I am also in love with the weather, here in the UK we get an odd mix we recently had snow falling in the morning and by the afternoon the snow had melted and it was like a warm spring day.

All these things influence my emotions which in turn influences my art, my most recent collection I called Flow, when I was creating these pieces I had been concentrating on my emotional flow, as someone who experiences chronic pain and depression I have been in a low place and needed to do something to bring me out of my funk, I started a yoga practice and have been meditating I would like to talk more about this in an another blog post, practicing yoga has helped me loosen up and unblock my emotions and allowed me to focus.
